Position
Area 4 Elementary School – Teacher, 1st Grade (Dunaire ES)
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver educational instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, following state and district standards and creating a safe, engaging environment.
- Teach grade‑relevant, subject‑specific, and mandated curriculum.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities for in‑person and virtual learning, producing written evidence of preparation.
- Communicate with district personnel, students, and parents by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular hours.
- Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Use internet and web‑based technology to provide instruction and collaboration.
- Assess, document, and report achievement progress, grading, assessments, and attendance.
- Supervise and manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Participate in conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, and administrators as required.
- Perform general instructional duties such as ordering materials, attending required meetings and professional learning sessions.
- Direct the work of paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed.
- Maintain prompt and regular work attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Identify educational needs and provide instruction to students with varying exceptionalities.
- Deliver instruction based on IEPs, assess, monitor, and report progress, and communicate with families as directed.
- Serve as case manager for students with disabilities, preparing paperwork, schedules, and facilitating IEP meetings.
- Follow the Georgia professional code of educator ethics.
- Meet unique needs of students with severe disabilities, including physical assistance as appropriate.
- Provide specially designed instruction aligned to state standards and individualized needs.
- Develop and implement standards‑based lessons with appropriate SDI and accommodations.
- Differentiation to address academic, behavioral, and functional skill needs.
- Develop, write, and revise IEPs in compliance with regulations.
- Implement IEP services and ensure accommodations are provided.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
- Provide timely progress reports to parents.
- Collaborate with general education teachers.
- Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Create a structured and supportive learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited institution in the relevant educational field.
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved teaching certificate in the appropriate field.
- Special education teachers who issue grades must hold appropriate certification and endorsement aligned with the assignment.
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved subject‑specific endorsements required.
- For Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) teachers: minimum education per specialization, must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment, and have at least two years of verifiable industrial work experience.
