Position Summary

Morehouse School of Medicine invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach Cell Biology (3 credit hours), a core graduate-level course within the Medical Cannabis Therapeutics concentration of the Master of Science in Biotechnology–Medical Cannabis Therapeutics (MSBT–MCT) Program.

Students will learn cellular organization, subcellular structures, molecular mechanisms, and experimental techniques in cell biology. The course is delivered within the Medical Cannabis Therapeutics (MCT) concentration, so the candidate should contextualize cell biology concepts within cannabinoid science and emerging biomedical research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver graduate-level instruction for the Cell Biology course.
  • Prepare and maintain course materials, including lectures, assignments, assessments, and case-based or research-focused learning activities.
  • Teach key concepts including cellular organization and evolution, chromosome structure and function, plasma membrane structure and transport mechanisms, cell cycle regulation and cell division, macromolecular synthesis and processing, cell signaling and intracellular communication, organelle biogenesis and cellular specialization, cell dynamics and intracellular transport, and experimental and analytical methods in cell biology.
  • Introduce students to laboratory and research methodologies used to study cell growth, cellular manipulation, and biological function.
  • Integrate current scientific literature and emerging technologies into classroom instruction.
  • Relate cellular and molecular mechanisms to endocannabinoid system biology, cannabinoid signaling pathways, inflammation, neurobiology, cellular homeostasis, and translational medical cannabis research where appropriate.
  • Facilitate active learning, scientific discussion, and critical thinking.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades according to MSM academic policies and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with MSBT–MCT program leadership to ensure course alignment and academic quality.
  • Foster an inclusive, professional, and supportive learning environment consistent with MSM’s mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (Master’s, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cellular and molecular biology.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills.
  • Ability to mentor and teach graduate students in an interdisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Research or professional experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, regenerative medicine, cancer biology, neurobiology, or related biomedical disciplines.
  • Experience or familiarity with medical cannabis science, cannabinoid biology, endocannabinoid system research, cannabis therapeutics, or related translational biomedical applications.
  • Experience integrating current literature and research methodologies into teaching.
  • Familiarity with biotechnology and translational medicine applications.
  • Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction.
