Part-Time Morning Care Program Instructor School Overview

Over Drew Charter School twenty-year history, the school has grown to serve grades PreK-12 with nearly 1,900 students in a "cradle-to-college" pipeline, including two onsite early learning partners. Drew implements a rigorous and supportive educational continuum, which includes tailored Response to Intervention (RTI) support, a rigorous STEAM/Project-Based Learning (PBL) instructional model, and a robust College and Career Readiness program. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to ensure all students succeed and to eliminate opportunity gaps and inequities in educational outcomes for our diverse population of students.

Program

Overview

Morning Brew is Drew Charter School's morning care program that provides a safe, welcoming, and supervised environment for students arriving before the start of the instructional day. The program serves students in PreK through 5th Grade, ensuring students begin each day in a positive, structured setting before transitioning to their classrooms.

This is an internal opportunity available to current Drew Charter School employees only. Morning Care staff are responsible for reporting promptly to assigned locations, actively supervising students, supporting morning routines, and helping ensure a smooth transition into the school day.

Hours:

7:00 AM - 7:45 AM, Monday-Friday

Program Motto:

Performance Responsibilities
  • Work 45 minutes per day (7:00 AM - 7:45 AM), Monday through Friday.
  • Report to your assigned Morning Brew location on time and be prepared to begin responsibilities before student arrival.
  • Be stationed at your assigned post before doors open and actively supervise students as they enter the building.
  • Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Welcome students as they arrive and help create a calm, positive start to the school day.
  • Assist students with morning routines and support a smooth transition into the instructional day.
  • Monitor student behavior and reinforce Drew Charter School expectations.
  • Assist with student arrival procedures and maintain an organized, safe, and orderly environment.
  • Communicate any student concerns, incidents, or safety issues to the Morning Care Coordinator or administration.
  • Support smooth transitions from Morning Brew into the school day.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience working with children, education, youth development, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to youth and community engagement.
  • Creativity, patience, professionalism, and punctuality.
  • Ability to attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Follow all school safety procedures, emergency protocols, and supervision expectations.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Drew Charter School employee (Internal Applicants Only).
  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, youth development, or related setting required.
  • Previous experience supervising groups of students preferred.
  • Knowledge of Drew Charter School policies, procedures, and expectations preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively supervise Pre-k through 12th grade students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student safety and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
