Position: HOURLY CTE TEACHER

Hourly Teacher

The Hourly Teacher utilizes current instructional strategies and evidence-based practices to plan, organize, and deliver structured lessons for K12 students. The Teacher provides high-quality instruction that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for success in college, career, and life.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certification:
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required; in a related field preferred. Master's, Specialist, or Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution in a related field preferred.
  • Education:

    Must hold or be eligible for a certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for the course(s) taught.
  • Work Experience:

    Work experience gained through education and certification/license requirements. Experience in K12 education or public sector preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of curriculum, evidence-based instructional practices, assessment strategies, and differentiated instruction that support high levels of student achievement.
  • Ability to analyze and apply student performance data to inform instruction, accelerate learning, and improve academic outcomes.
  • Ability to establish a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment that supports student engagement, well-being, and positive behavior.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively engage students, families, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in integrating instructional technology and digital resources to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
  • Knowledge of applicable district policies, state and federal regulations, student confidentiality requirements, and school safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential Duties:

  • Delivers high-quality, standards-based instruction using research-based instructional strategies, technology, and engaging learning experiences that promote academic achievement, critical thinking, and student ownership of learning.
  • Plans, implements, and differentiates instruction aligned to district curriculum and state standards to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all students.
  • Uses formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, implement interventions and enrichment, and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment by promoting student engagement, positive behavior, attendance, and social-emotional well-being.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, attendance, and instructional documentation while administering required district and state assessments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with families, colleagues, administrators, and community partners to support student success, strengthen school culture, and advance school and district priorities.
  • Participates in professional learning, collaborative planning, school improvement initiatives, and other assigned activities to continuously strengthen instructional practice and organizational effectiveness.
  • Supervises students in instructional and non-instructional settings, maintains prompt and regular in-person attendance, and performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or designee.

  • Vision:
    Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
  • Hearing:
    Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
  • Speech:
    Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
  • Upper Body Mobility:
    Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength:
    Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
  • Environmental Requirements:
    Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
  • Mental Requirements:
    Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
