Instruction & Curriculum Development

• Plan and deliver engaging music instruction aligned with Georgia state standards and school goals
• Teach music theory, vocal techniques, instrumental skills, rhythm, and music appreciation
• Incorporate a variety of musical styles, cultures, and historical contexts into lessons
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

Student Development

• Cultivate students’ confidence, creativity, and self-expression through music
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Encourage discipline, teamwork, and performance readiness

Performance & Program Development

• Organize and direct school performances, concerts, and showcases
• Lead ensembles such as choir, band, or small groups (as applicable)
• Coordinate rehearsals and prepare students for public performances
• Support school events with musical programming

Collaboration & School Engagement

• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary learning
• Participate in school meetings, events, and professional development
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
• Valid Georgia teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
• Experience teaching music to K–12 students
• Proficiency in vocal and/or instrumental instruction

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Music or Music Education
• Experience directing school ensembles (choir, band, orchestra)
• Ability to play and teach multiple instruments
• Experience working in diverse or urban school settings

• Strong musical knowledge and instructional skills
• Creativity and passion for the arts
• Effective classroom management
• Communication and collaboration skills
• Organizational and performance planning abilities

• Classroom and performance spaces (auditorium, music room)
• Occasional evening or weekend hours for performances and rehearsals
