Assistant Professor – Tenure Track Appointment Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (Sport Management)
The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education at Morehouse College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sport Management and Sport Leadership to begin August 1, 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of our undergraduate Sport Management curriculum and help advance Morehouse College's mission through teaching, scholarship, and service. The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in sport management, sport leadership, sport finance, sport law, event and facility management, sport communication, branding and media, and/or sport analytics, along with general education courses.
Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in scholarly work and institutional service.
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Sport Management, Kinesiology, Sport Leadership, Human Performance, or a closely related field. Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level. Evidence of an emerging or established scholarly research agenda in sports management, leadership, or related fields. Commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. Interest in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Experience or interest in securing external funding is preferred.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Sport Management and Sport Leadership and related areas. Teach general education courses as assigned by the department and in alignment with the College's core curriculum. Advise and mentor students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education. Develop new courses that align with programmatic goals and emerging trends in sports management and leadership. Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda.
Serve on department, division, and college-wide committees. Contribute to institutional initiatives in general education and experiential learning. Support the College's mission to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service.
