Atlanta SMART Academy is a conduit from elementary school to high school where students develop the critical thinking skills to thrive in a constantly evolving society. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Development
  • Plan and deliver engaging theater arts lessons aligned with Georgia state standards and school curriculum goals
  • Teach foundational and advanced concepts in acting, stagecraft, improvisation, script analysis, and performance
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
  • Integrate theater with core academic subjects where appropriate
Student Development
  • Foster creativity, self-expression, and confidence in students
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student growth in performance and technique
  • Encourage teamwork, discipline, and professionalism through collaborative projects
Production & Performance
  • Direct and produce school plays, showcases, and performances
  • Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and stage production elements (set, lighting, costumes, etc.)
  • Engage students in both on-stage and technical theater roles
Collaboration & School Engagement
  • Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Theater Arts, Drama, Education, or a related field
  • Valid Georgia teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience teaching theater or performing arts to K-12 students
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
