Assistant Professor of Economics

The Department of Economics at Morehouse College invites applications for a tenured track position in economics beginning in the Fall semester of 2027. Applications are open to candidates that have either a Ph.D. degree or who will have received a Ph.D. in economics and have a strong interest in applied econometrics by May 2027.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Successful candidates should have an active research portfolio and be prepared to engage with diverse students across a liberal arts curriculum. The candidate should identify their strengths and experiences in assisting Black men and men of color from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds towards the accomplishment of curricular goals. Also, the successful candidate will support the College's general education and the core requirements of the Department of Business Administration's curriculum.

Morehouse College has a 3/3 teaching load. The position responsibilities will include (a) maintaining a strong research agenda; (b) teaching introductory courses in economics (both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics), Basic statistics for economics and business, and other upper-level economic courses in quantitative analysis such as Principles of Econometrics, Topics in Econometrics, and Mathematical Economics) and © engage in academic advisement.

Teaching Responsibility - 1. Teaching and Instruction (for academic roles) Teach undergraduate courses in Economics (e.g. Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics, Statistics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics). Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and student learning outcomes. Develop course materials and integrate technology into instruction. Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
2. Service and Institutional Contributions Provide service to the department, institution, and profession. Participate in committees, curriculum development, and program assessment activities. Support student development initiatives and departmental programs.
3. Scholarly Innovation and Creative Production Conduct independent and collaborative research in Economics Present research findings at conferences and professional meetings
