Our World Language Spanish Teacher plays a vital role in bringing that belief to life by delivering culturally responsive, rigorous, and joyful Spanish language instruction to our scholars.

Language learning at Movement is about more than vocabulary and grammar. It is about building global awareness, honoring the linguistic heritage of many of our scholars and families, and opening doors of opportunity that might otherwise remain closed. Our World Language teacher is a bridge builder — connecting scholars to the Spanish-speaking world and to the cultural richness it represents.

This position delivers comprehensive Spanish language instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for World Languages, utilizing a communicative approach that builds proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The World Language Spanish Teacher collaborates with grade-level teams, participates in the school's professional learning culture, and serves as a champion for language and cultural competency across the campus. This role reports to the Campus Principal.

You will teach Spanish, celebrate culture, and inspire scholars to see the world through a new lens.

Instruction & Curriculum

• Design and deliver rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive Spanish language lessons aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for World Languages
• Use a communicative language teaching (CLT) approach to build scholar proficiency across all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing
• Teach through the three modes of communication — Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational — to develop genuine language competency
• Integrate authentic cultural materials, texts, music, media, and real-world connections from Spanish-speaking communities into daily instruction
• Differentiate instruction to meet scholars at their current proficiency level using a variety of scaffolds and supports
• Develop and implement unit and lesson plans aligned to GSE learning targets, campus goals, and Movement Schools' academic expectations
• Use Spanish as the primary language of instruction to maximize scholar exposure and immersion

Assessment & Data

• Design and administer formative and summative assessments that measure growth in communicative proficiency across all four language skills
• Use performance-based assessments, speaking tasks, written products, and listening evaluations to capture authentic language use
• Analyze assessment data to identify patterns, adjust instruction, and provide targeted support for scholars who need additional language development
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date grade records and progress documentation in alignment with campus policies
• Communicate student progress regularly and clearly to families in a manner that is accessible and relational

Classroom Culture & Community

• Build a joyful, affirming, and linguistically rich classroom environment where scholars feel safe to take risks in a new language
• Honor and celebrate the cultural and linguistic heritage of Spanish-speaking scholars and families within the classroom and across the campus
• Establish and maintain clear routines, expectations, and a classroom culture aligned to Movement Schools' values — high expectations, love for scholars, and a growth mindset for all
• Serve as a cultural bridge on campus — fostering awareness of and respect for the diversity of Spanish-speaking communities represented in our school and broader world
• Partner with families — especially Spanish-speaking families — to build strong home-school connections and support scholar language development at home
