- Provides instruction for school-age patients
- Educates patients and families regarding school services and supports setting up appropriate services
- Serves as a liaison between the hospital, school system, and parents
- Provides medical and support teams with information regarding school needs and available school services
- Documents and maintains updated patient information in the medical record regarding services provided
- Supervises School Program volunteers
- Supports educational programming within the hospital system
- Educates patients and families regarding school services available in the community
- Educates patients’ local schools about how medical conditions impact learning
- 2 years of experience teaching in a public school system
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Must be eligible for and obtain Georgia teaching certificate within 90 days of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of classroom procedures
- Knowledge of state and federal educational laws and requirements
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of 504 plans and individualized education programs
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
Demonstrates expertise in educational programming and patient education, with a strong understanding of classroom procedures, state and federal educational laws, and individualized education programs. Capable of effectively liaising between medical teams, schools, and families to support school-age patients' needs.
