The Child Development Program at Georgia State University is dedicated to providing high-quality early care and education that supports young children's cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. The Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Development Aide II to join our team.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Child Development Aide II include the following:

  • The essential functions and responsibilities for this position are as follows:
    To provide physical care for infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children including diapering and or toilet training, feeding and meal time assistance or teaching them to feed themselves, handwashing and supervising dressing, toileting, and all other care-related activities as needed.
  • This position assists with coordinating developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers or preschool aged children. This may include modeling language and speech and providing opportunities and encouragement for learning new physical skills, working with individual children or small groups of children to encourage language development, social, cognitive, and physical skills to planned activities and daily, routine activities.
  • This position performs housekeeping tasks as required; such as sweeping floors, cleaning tables and chairs, changing bed linens, washing toys and doing laundry.
  • This position ensures the physical safety of all children by providing constant attention and supervision. The position makes sure that hazardous items are kept out of reach and closely supervises activities such as climbing or swinging that may involve the possibility of injury.
  • Assuming leadership of the classroom in the absence of the Child Development Specialist (Lead Teacher) and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and one year of experience working with young or preschool children in a childcare setting.
  • Successful completion of one year of college course work in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field may substitute for experience.
  • Criminal background check required.
Preferred Hiring Requirements:
  • Knowledge of accreditation and licensing regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50LB
