Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Special Education Assistant
Paraprofessional Position
Atlanta Public Schools is looking for a self-motivated Paraprofessional to support teachers in meeting the educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students in the classroom and community. The Paraprofessional provides assistance to certified teachers with in-person instruction, organization, and management strategies. This position reports to the School Principal and will be assigned to be physically present in the school building location.
Minimum requirements include: certification, education, and work experience. Knowledge of childhood growth and development, training/instructional methods, supervision, academic subjects, computer proficiency, communication, flexibility, school safety, writing, and time management are essential.
Duties include assisting teachers with in-person instruction, classroom organization, management, and instructional strategies; attending classroom sessions; redirecting off-task students; working with small groups or individual students; checking in on students; communicating proactively with teachers; responding to emails and phone calls; assisting during standardized testing; preparing lesson plan materials; distributing food, supplies, materials, and equipment; supporting teachers with grading; monitoring students' movement;
assisting with classroom and cafeteria clean up; assisting with the transition of students; training volunteers; engaging in professional learning opportunities; and performing other duties as assigned.
Physical abilities and working conditions include vision, hearing, speech, upper body mobility, strength, environmental requirements, and mental requirements.

Compensation includes a salary grade, a stipend, and a work year of 202 days plus 100 additional hours of professional learning.
