Position: Middle School / Upper School Design & Production

Classification:Full-Time, 10-month position

Reports To:

Director of Fine Arts What You'll Do

  • Lead students in the classroom and theater shop using best-practice instruction and safety.
  • Create and design elements of production work throughout the year.
  • Design or stage manage for shows as needed.
  • Oversee and supervise after-school and weekend production work as needed.
  • Develop curriculum and specific lesson plans with the Design and Production team to cover all aspects of the design and production curriculum.
  • Develop a classroom culture of belonging for all students.
  • Work in concert with a teaching team and follow through on shared plans.
  • Provide regular and timely student feedback, informative parent communication, and unique mid-semester comments for every student.
  • Conduct tutorials during scheduled afternoon or morning times.
  • Ask for and reflect on student feedback.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the department, families, and community.
  • Implement effective character education and classroom management.
  • Assess and evaluate student D&P production and class work.
  • Seek professional development opportunities to maintain and improve performance and instruction skills.
  • Participate in all Fine Arts faculty meetings, as well as Upper School or Middle School meetings as called.
  • Assist and provide lighting, sound, and projection for assemblies and special events.
  • Work collaboratively with D&P staff and all Fine Arts staff.
Who You Are

You bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design and Production or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of Tech/Production experience
  • Experience in multiple aspects of production work and execution
  • Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of production technology
  • Comprehensive understanding of executing lighting, sets, costume, props, or sound work
  • Experience in fast-paced production settings, dealing with various spaces, tools, and timelines
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Preferred: Teaching Certificate (encouraged but not required)
