Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Student Success Advisor position in the Student Engagement division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Engagement, the Full-Time Student Success Advisor position is highly collaborative and responsible for facilitating intensive, individualized evidence-based interventions and support to foster student accountability and overall success. The Student Success Advisor will assess individual student needs and work with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure students enrolled in high-demand career programs at Atlanta Technical College achieve their maximum educational and vocational potential.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Advises students on academic requirements, selection of courses and graduation requirements primarily within the Healthcare disciplines;
Performs and interprets degree audits;

Participates in academic division and departmental meetings to gain a thorough understanding of programs and procedures;

Collaborates, communicates, and coordinates with internal and external services and programs to foster a holistic approach to student support; refers students to appropriate resources for additional support as needed;

Meets weekly on an individual or group basis with students to develop targeted educational and career pathways, monitor performance and academic progress;

Maximizes resources and services and serves as a trusted resource for students to ensure understanding of the academic process;

Responds appropriately to early alert situations; monitors and documents student academic achievement, persistence, and compliance with plans for success and career placements; and Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

Understanding of and sensitivity to the multicultural differences/needs of students.

Skilled in providing success coaching, advising and/or counseling to diverse populations of students, including low-income, academically under-prepared college students in a postsecondary education setting.

Strong time management skills, with focus on the ability to handle multiple project needs simultaneously.

Willingness to work collaboratively across-cross-functional teams

Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

High attention to detail and accuracy

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

Oral and written communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND two ( 2 ) years of directly related work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in counseling, higher education, social work or related field.
