Job Summary

The School of Psychological and Brain Sciences (psychology.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (www.gatech.edu) in Atlanta, Georgia, invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, with a focus on people analytics and workforce sciences. Successful candidates will join the School’s nationally recognized doctoral program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and contribute to its research, graduate training, and continued growth.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Data, algorithms, and rapidly shifting labor markets are reshaping work, and organizations increasingly make consequential decisions about people using evidence at a scale and speed that outpaces the science behind it. We seek scholars who study the workforce rigorously and quantitatively, and whose work informs how organizations select, develop, deploy, support, and retain their people.

We are interested in candidates whose research complements and extends our strengths in industrial-organizational psychology. We welcome applicants working on core topics in the workforce sciences, including but not limited to personnel selection and assessment, measurement and psychometrics, training and development, leadership, teams and collaboration, motivation, worker well-being, retention and turnover, and organizational climate and culture. We are equally interested in emerging areas, including people analytics and workforce measurement, algorithmic and AI-based selection, human-AI and human-robot teaming, computational approaches to organizational behavior (e.g., natural language processing, organizational network analysis, sensor and digital-trace data), skills-based hiring and skill taxonomies, and the design and evaluation of workforce interventions at scale.

We also encourage applications from scholars working at the intersection of related fields, such as organizational behavior, labor economics, computational social science, data science and machine learning, information systems, industrial and systems engineering, learning sciences, occupational health, and public policy. Our goal is to attract innovative scholars who can contribute to and expand Georgia Tech's distinct research landscape.

Successful candidates will conduct cutting-edge research leveraging technology and data to enhance the human condition at work, teach and excel in graduate and undergraduate education, and have the potential or proven ability to secure external funding. They will collaborate effectively within and beyond the School of Psychological and Brain Sciences, while embracing a global outlook, showing a strong sense of leadership, and demonstrating a commitment to service, qualities that empower them to make a difference to the field, the Institute, and the world.
