The School

For more than 65 years, The Schenck School in Atlanta, Georgia, has changed the trajectory of children’s lives by helping bright students with dyslexia become confident, capable, independent learners. Serving students in Kindergarten through sixth grade for a focused two- to three-year period, Schenck combines highly trained faculty, small classes, multisensory instruction, and a joyful, affirming school culture. The School’s influence extends beyond its own campus through Read Source, which shares Schenck’s expertise in structured literacy with educators and students across the broader community.

The Schenck School seeks an exceptional Head of School to begin July 2027. The next Head will join a school of considerable strength: an extraordinarily committed faculty and staff, a deeply loyal community, beautiful purpose-built facilities, strong financial resources, and a mission with profound impact. This is fundamentally a stewardship-and-leadership opportunity, not a turnaround assignment. The next Head will be called to honor what is distinctive and enduring about Schenck while helping the School strengthen trust and organizational clarity, sustain and develop outstanding faculty, respond thoughtfully to a changing educational landscape, and shape its future with confidence and purpose.

The School is particularly interested in an experienced, relational, mission-driven educational leader who brings confidence without ego, listens deeply, communicates clearly, values the expertise of others, and combines warmth and empathy with the capacity to make sound decisions and move an organization forward.
