is seeking to recruit multiple
Academic Advisor II
positions to assist academic departments/units with verbal or written academic plans, advisement interpretation and implementation of university policies and procedures in the areas of student enrollment and evaluation. This position provides information to and advises both enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation; may coordinate the work of entry level academic advisors.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Advise and support students on academic planning, degree requirements, course selection, and university policies.
- Promote student retention, progression, and graduation through proactive outreach, monitoring, and referrals.
- Maintain, audit, and evaluate student records, transcripts, degree audits, and transfer credit applications.
- Monitor academic performance and determine eligibility for graduation, certifications, and academic recognition.
- Process academic petitions, readmissions, financial aid reinstatements, and other student academic requests.
- Coordinate student communications, orientations, workshops, and student success initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to enhance student success, enrollment, retention, and academic outcomes.
We will hire multiple advisors from this announcement for the Atlanta Downtown, Dunwoody, Newton, Alpharetta, Decatur, and Online campus (which is housed on the Clarkston campus).

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and either
1) 6 months experience as “Academic Advisor I” at GSU (University Advisement Center or other GSU advising department) or
2) three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Requirements:
- Preference may be given to those who possess a Master's degree and three years' experience working with student retention or student affairs programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience presenting to groups or with group facilitation
Experience following up on problems until resolution - Proficiency with Excel, Banner and student tracking applications such as Grades First, EABor Degree Works or similar product
- Experience with transfer articulation
