Job Summary
Warren County Power Station is a gas‑fired combined‑cycle power station in Front Royal, VA with a net generating capacity of approximately 1,370 megawatts. The site is among the cleanest fossil‑fuel fired facilities in the nation, using three combustion turbines and a steam turbine to help close a 5,600‑megawatt gap in the service area. As a Maintenance Operator Trainee, you will operate and maintain power‑station equipment as part of a 56‑month standardized skills development program.
CoreResponsibilities
- Inspect, operate and monitor equipment used in the production of electricity
- Perform daily routine operations
- Isolate/tag equipment for maintenance
- Operate valves
- Make entries into computer‑based logbooks
- Perform maintenance on major industrial equipment such as pumps, turbines, and mechanical plant equipment
- Perform maintenance on batteries, motors, switch gear, motor‑operated valves, and other electrical equipment
The starting rate of pay is $28.18 per hour with a 5% addition. Pay increases through each step in the 56‑month development program based on experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, and competencies.
Shift & TravelThis position will operate on a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule that includes days, nights, and two weekends over a 28‑day pattern. Candidates must be available to travel and train in Richmond, Virginia for up to nine weeks at a time. Paid relocation assistance is not provided.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work around dust, grease, dirt, and in weather conditions, loud noise, and machinery
- Ability to work a 12‑hour rotating shift that can include days, nights, and weekends
- Journeyman craftsman experience
- Power plant/power generation operational or maintenance experience
- Minimum of three years experience operating and maintaining major industrial equipment (pumps, motors, valves, turbines, electrical switch gear) in an industrial environment such as a shipyard, military base, or manufacturing plant
- Mechatronics program certification or equivalent
