As part of WSP, we are recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” and foster a culture of collaboration, growth, and technical excellence.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Telecom Designer with leadership skills to step into the role of ICT Studio Manager at any of our kW offices (Troy NY, New York NY, Herndon VA, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, or Tempe AZ). This unique position combines hands‑on telecom design with management responsibilities, offering the perfect blend of technical expertise and leadership.

Key Focus

This role is ideal for a seasoned Telecom Designer looking to expand into management while maintaining a hands‑on approach to design. If you’re passionate about leading teams, mentoring, managing complex projects, and producing high‑quality designs, this position offers the opportunity to strike the perfect balance between leadership and technical work.

Your Impact
  • Lead and mentor a team of telecom designers and Revit specialists, championing professional development and fostering innovation.
  • Stay engaged in hands‑on ICT and telecommunications design, developing detailed pathways, cabling infrastructure, and integrating telecom systems with other building systems. Write and edit Division 27 specifications and manage construction administration tasks.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the ICT Studio, balancing design workloads, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient performance and timely project delivery.
  • Ensure all projects progress smoothly, meeting deadlines and budget constraints without compromising quality or technical standards, and collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client and project requirements, including relevant codes and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on design‑related matters and represent the ICT discipline in meetings and presentations, maintaining clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Drive strategic growth of the ICT design team, identify areas for process improvement, and implement innovations that increase both efficiency and design quality, staying current with industry trends, especially AI‑related advancements.
Who You Are

You are a Telecom Designer with a proven track record of leadership, ready to step into a management role while continuing to contribute directly to design. You thrive in a fast‑paced, technical environment where you can balance design work with operational and managerial duties.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology) or equivalent.
  • 7–10 years of experience in ICT or telecommunications infrastructure design, with a focus on mission‑critical or data center environments.
  • BCSI RCDD certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management and mentorship in a technical design environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to and collaborate with clients, project stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, meeting deadlines while maintaining high‑quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a technical discipline.
  • Experience with international projects and diverse project teams.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with a proven track record of producing detailed, high‑quality models and design packages.
  • Familiarity with BIM Execution Plans (BxP), automation, and scripting tools like Dynamo or Rhino for design efficiency.
