OverviewBarge Design Solutions,. is an employee-owned firm with a strong culture of quality, delivery, and innovation. We are looking for a Traffic Engineering Associate for our Georgia office. This position will be an embedded employee at the GDOT District Traffic Operations office in either Jesup, Georgia or Tennille, Georgia.
Responsibilities- Prepare various traffic studies such as intersection safety analysis, interchange analysis, and corridor planning documents.
- Provide intersection and corridor operational analysis and assist with the development of intersection operational improvements.
- Prepare and review traffic signal and pavement marking designs.
- Develop traffic analysis using Synchro software and implement signal timing plans.
- Participate in project site visits with other project team members as needed.
- Assist with transportation planning studies as needed.
- Perform and review traffic counts, speed studies, access permits, and safety studies for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
- Prepare and review traffic studies to determine appropriate treatments and traffic control to resolve safety and congestion issues.
- Work with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
- 0–3 years of transportation or traffic engineering experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. Knowledge of Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, ArcGIS, and Open Roads Designer is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
