We are looking for a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team. As a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer, candidates will have the opportunity to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This is an exciting and growing field in the power systems industry and allows exposure to how power generation such as renewable energy ties into the electric system.
Candidates will use knowledge of digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.
- Candidates must be located in the United States and live more than 50 miles from the Atlanta, GA office.
- Preferred locations include Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Alabama.
- Must be willing to travel to customer sites and in office as needed (10% to 20% travel).
- 3 days in office

- Develop substation protection and control designs in accordance with project scope and client standards.
- Collaborate with a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with eight (8+) years of Substation protection/controls design and/or field testing/commissioning experience.
- Experience executing substation protection and control projects.
- Excellent communication skills with internal teams and clients.
- Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, wiring design).
- Strong time-management and ability to meet deadlines; collaborative leader; self-starter.
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving; high computer proficiency; willingness to travel to project/client sites.
- Engineer Intern (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Experience performing quality control checks on substation protection and control design projects.
- Experience working with CAD tools.
- Possible Master’s degree in related field.
- Field testing/commissioning experience.
