In this position, you would ensure that the boiler and chiller systems operate effectively within their design capacities and/or capabilities by primarily assessing the condition of plant equipment, identifying and preparing a scope for the maintenance and repairs to equipment as needed, working with the Procurement Manager to secure parts and materials and then completing the necessary corrective and preventative maintenance work on the plant equipment.
To complete this work as a Boiler Plant Operator, you will be required to use lifts and ladders in the performance of your assignments, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally is required, along with experience using basic technology, such as a computer workstation and radio. Basic typing skills are required.
The AAT Project operates 3 shifts daily on a 24/7/365 schedule. Other work scheduling requirements may also apply during extreme weather events. The Boiler Plant Operator reports to the Plant Manager.

Here’s what you’ll need- Georgia State Association of Power Engineers Inc. 4th Class License.
- Five or more years of experience with boiler and chiller controls systems, including maintenance and knowledge of proprietary controls systems, such as Johnson Controls (Metasys), Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, or similar BMS/BAS technologies.
- Experience operating and maintaining mechanical plant systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and air handling units.
- Experience with work order management technologies, such as Maintenance Connection, Maximo, or similar systems. Hexagon Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software is used to manage accounting, asset data collection, work order flow and completion, performance data management and reporting at Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
- Ability to perform VFD’s routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure continuous system functionality, adjust setpoints and control strategies to optimize energy efficiency and system performance.
- Able to support the Plant team with troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems (BAS) for optimized Plant performance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license.
- HS diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Availability to work all shifts.
- Associate degree from two‑year accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3‑5 years of experience with HVAC controls systems, including maintenance and knowledge of proprietary controls systems, such as Johnson Controls (Metasys), Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, or similar BMS/BAS technologies.
