Position SummaryThe Project Engineer – Water/Wastewater supports the planning, design, and execution of water infrastructure projects for municipal clients. The role requires strong technical proficiency, collaboration across disciplines, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality, practical engineering solutions.
Essential Job Functions- Develop engineering designs focused on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Conduct site visits and field assessments, documenting findings through detailed reports.
- Prepare design calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Evaluate design alternatives and provide innovative, cost‑effective recommendations.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist with project delivery from planning and permitting through final design and bidding.
- Generate and review construction documentation including cost estimates and bid evaluations.
- Provide construction‑phase support such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating change orders.
- Ensure technical accuracy, compliance with codes, and adherence to Tetra Tech standards.
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and documentation to support overall delivery goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1–8 years of experience in water/wastewater design or municipal infrastructure engineering.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Georgia, or ability to obtain within six months.
- Familiarity with industry codes, design standards, and permitting processes.
- Strong technical writing, organization, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or hydraulic modeling software such as Water
GEMS, Sewer
GEMS, or Info Water. - Experience in municipal or utility infrastructure design and permitting.
- Prior exposure to water and wastewater treatment plant design.
- Understanding of construction administration processes.
- Desire to take on increasing responsibility and grow into a project management role.
- Prolonged periods working on a computer in an office setting.
- Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Fieldwork may include exposure to outdoor environments, uneven terrain, or construction sites.
- Work will primarily be performed in an office environment with occasional field assignments.
- Field work may involve exposure to weather, construction activities, and moderate noise levels.
