Overview
The Senior Environmental Specialist provides technical leadership and project execution support for Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and environmental remediation projects. This role supports real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and risk management initiatives by delivering high‑quality environmental due diligence and cleanup solutions.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with state and federal regulations, including records reviews, site reconnaissance, interviews, and report preparation.
- Plan, manage, and execute Phase II Environmental Site Assessments involving soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and other media sampling, including development of sampling plans and interpretation of analytical data.
- Evaluate recognized environmental conditions and provide clear, defensible conclusions and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Manage environmental remediation projects from investigation through closure, including feasibility evaluations, remedial action plans, contractor oversight, and regulatory coordination.
- Interface with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to support permitting, compliance, and site closure activities.
- Coordinate subcontractors, laboratories, and drilling contractors to ensure scope, schedule, budget, and safety requirements are met.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, schedules, and client deliverables with a high level of quality and attention to detail.
- Provide technical mentoring and quality review for junior staff involved in environmental assessments and remediation projects.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, scope development, and client relationship management.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASTM standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices related to site assessment and cleanup.
- Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and schedules in a consulting or similar professional services environment.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex environmental issues to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Willingness to perform fieldwork as needed, including site visits and sampling activities.
- Professional certification or licensure such as Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with state voluntary cleanup programs, brownfield redevelopment, or risk‑based corrective action frameworks.
- Familiarity with environmental due diligence for commercial real estate, energy, or infrastructure projects.
