Arcadis is seeking a self‑starting and experienced Project Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects throughout the United States. As a Project Engineer you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on civil design and environmental permitting projects in the energy, industrial, and transportation sectors, including site development, reclamation, and restoration projects. The role requires experience with federal and state environmental permitting.
ResponsibilitiesWork with project managers and team members to develop engineering designs for permitting or construction permits. Manage civil or environmental engineering projects, including land development, soil and erosion control design, and stormwater permitting. Analyze documentation—technical reports, construction submittals, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs—to understand site characteristics. Review applicable regulations, permitting requirements, and standards. Based on data and regulatory constraints, develop civil engineering designs for projects of varying complexity.
Produce quality materials within tight time frames while simultaneously managing multiple assignments. Primarily office‑based, with occasional field assignments (up to 15% travel), client and stakeholder meetings, and mentorship of junior engineers.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience
- Fluent with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., Hydro
CAD, WinTR‑55, Pond Pack, HEC‑RAS)
- Master of Science in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
- OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER Training
- Professional Engineering license(s)
- Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
- VADEQ‑Certified Plan Reviewer and Inspector for Erosion and Sediment Control and/or for Stormwater Management

The salary range for this position is $82,400 – $123,600 (actual salaries vary by experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location).
