WhatYou’ll Do
As a Project Manager, you will lead all phases of power market and power supply planning engagements, from business development through project execution. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships while guiding teams of engineers and analysts to deliver actionable, high‑quality results. You will also contribute to the growth and development of the Power Markets practice through mentoring and business development activities.
Key Responsibilities Include Business Development- Cultivate and grow client relationships through marketing efforts, project interactions, and strategic engagement.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers.
- Lead proposal development, project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
- Set critical project objectives with clients and lead contract development and negotiations.
- Manage the full lifecycle of power supply and power market planning projects including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication.
- Lead risk assessment processes and procedures using industry best practices.
- Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams of engineers, consultants, and analysts.
- Communicate project status, risks, and costs to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Train and mentor junior staff on both technical and project management aspects of power supply and market planning.
- Champion internal initiatives that promote team growth and technical excellence.
- Serve as a go‑to technical expert in power market and power supply planning and evaluation.
- Lead and oversee consulting studies supporting generation and power supply planning decisions, including integrated resource planning (IRP), market assessments, power supply RFP evaluations, and generation portfolio analyses.
- Support client decisions related to new generation construction, facility retirements, retrofits, conversions, and power purchase agreements.
- Guide the application of power market and power supply planning models and tools to evaluate cost, risk, and performance impacts.
- Integrate engineering, economic, and market considerations into clear, defensible recommendations.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to clients in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
- Experience supporting electric utilities or power market participants with power supply planning, market analysis, or integrated resource planning studies.
- Working knowledge of power supply planning and market simulation tools such as PROMOD (zonal and nodal), capacity expansion models, or similar platforms (e.g., PLEXOS, EnCompass, Grid View).
- Understanding of electric power supply options, including generation technologies, capital and operating cost structures, dispatch behavior, and general power system operations.
- Familiarity with power purchase agreements, including cost structures, terms, and key risk considerations.
- Knowledge of electric utility systems, generation portfolios, and the role of power markets in long‑term planning decisions.
- Experience applying financial and economic analysis techniques such as discounted cash flow, net present value, and internal rate of return in support of planning decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers and analysts.
