The Opportunity
Carlson Design Group is seeking a creative, highly talented Structural Designer II to join our engineering team as part of our expanding business. Carlson’s market focus includes Mission Critical, Light Industrial, Financial Services, and Commercial sectors. Our design philosophy centers on listening, understanding, and executing solutions that are compelling, technically sound, resilient, and fiscally responsible.
LocationAtlanta, GA or Detroit, MI, includes some travel.
Responsibilities- Develop structural design solutions for project components and systems
- Support the Structural Team Lead on assigned projects
- Prepare schematic designs and Construction Documents using modeling software
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of drawings and documentation
- Coordinate work with other disciplines
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with Contract Documents
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Structural Engineering firm
- High proficiency in CAD and Revit
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- Understanding of applicable model codes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed work ethic
