Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Mechanical to lead and deliver medium to large-scale mechanical projects with a strong emphasis on HVAC systems. The successful candidate will oversee project planning, execution, and closeout while ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget adherence. This role requires hands-on coordination with design teams, subcontractors and clients across construction and industrial environments, with additional value placed on experience in processing piping and data center mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full project lifecycle from kickoff through commissioning and closeout for mechanical projects, with primary focus on HVAC and processing piping systems.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and resource plans; track progress and implement corrective actions to meet milestones.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, contracts, performance and on-site coordination; conduct regular progress meetings and reviews.
- Serve as primary client contact for project updates, scope clarifications and change order negotiations; maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure project compliance with applicable codes, standards and specifications (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes) and company quality and safety programs.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design engineers, MEP trades, controls, and commissioning agents to resolve technical issues and integrate systems.
- Review and approve technical submittals, RFIs, drawings and shop drawings; oversee quality control inspections and testing.
- Identify, assess and mitigate project risks; implement contingency plans and document lessons learned.
- Manage document control, reporting and closeout documentation including O&M manuals, warranties and as-built drawings.
- Promote and enforce site safety practices and regulatory requirements; participate in safety meetings and HSE reporting.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of project management experience leading mechanical/HVAC projects; demonstrated success delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Proven technical knowledge of HVAC systems and processing piping design, installation and commissioning.
- Strong project management skills with experience using scheduling and construction management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore or similar).
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead cross-functional project teams.
- Experience in construction site supervision, subcontractor management and contract administration.
- Familiarity with data center mechanical systems, chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units and controls is highly desirable.
- Professional certifications preferred: PMP, CCM or equivalent; OSHA 30-hour or similar safety certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, local mechanical codes) and commissioning practices.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required and work in field environments; valid drivers license.
