Amazon Web Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team, responsible for design and continuous innovation of our expanding data center footprint.
Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution systems to support world‑class uptime for customers. The successful candidate will drive change, communicate technical decisions to senior management, and work across disciplines to deliver quality, speed, and cost‑effective design solutions.
Key Job Responsibilities- Design data center electrical systems and produce construction document sets.
- Ensure designs meet quality, budget, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with local agencies and contractors to comply with federal, state, and municipal codes.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scope, provide technical support for information requests, and manage concurrent projects in multiple regions.
- Work with commissioning teams to test, validate, and confirm system performance.
- Travel up to 20% of the time for site reviews, field engineering support, and international engagements.
- Offer creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions to technical challenges.
- 6+ years of data‑center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of critical data‑center mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience researching and implementing new design technologies and construction methods for data‑center equipment.
- Professional Engineering or Architectural license.
- Knowledge of building codes and regional regulations.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
