Role Overview

Cybersecurity Director – Energy Providers will have responsibility for client management, solution implementation, and delivering project results. This role connects Guidehouse Technology consulting solutions to solve client problems, facilitates sales processes, establishes and leads project work streams, interacts with clients and Guidehouse Technology experts to ensure engagement success, supports day‑to‑day operational meetings with client sponsors and internal team leaders, and leverages utilities industry connections to foster client and firm success across North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support or lead sales and growth targets within the Risk, Compliance, Security Team.
  • Support or establish and facilitate business development meetings and foster industry relationships for short, medium, and long‑term success throughout North America.
  • Lead work streams that enable the assessment, development, and enhancement of business strategies, operating plans, business processes, organizational structures, and supporting infrastructure for North American clients.
  • Conduct NERC audits, improve NERC compliance and cybersecurity processes, analyze internal controls, and implement process improvements.
  • Apply technical competencies on the ground with clients and potential clients.
  • Analyze NERC and related strategy implementation and compliance efforts.
  • Communicate solutions and new strategies to clients through meetings, reports, and presentations.
  • Provide detailed fact‑finding, research, and analysis to further support delivery.
  • Support and/or ensure quality of deliverables to meet client expectations.
Required Qualifications
  • US Permanent Resident or US Citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, cybersecurity, security management, homeland security, information security, or related discipline AND 10+ years post‑graduation experience within the electric utility industry, including as a regulator; OR
  • Master’s degree in a business, cybersecurity, security management, homeland security, information security, or related discipline AND 8+ years post‑graduation experience within the electric utility industry, including as a regulator.
  • Experience focusing on North American NERC Reliability Standards (USA and/or Canada), supporting regulatory framework and processes around NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Regional Entities.
  • Demonstrated working proficiency in the NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Successful experience leading business development initiatives (writing proposals, identifying opportunities to expand scope, and/or providing additional services).
  • Strong utilities industry relationships.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong communications skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong critical analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple time‑sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness.
  • Ability to travel, including potential international travel.
  • Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse office or client office location.
  • Currently reside in the contiguous United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Reasonable driving distance to listed core Guidehouse office or client office location.
  • Certifications in the utilities industry:
    Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CIP Physical Security Professional (PSP).
  • Experience with technology strategy, digital transformation, or enterprise IT consulting in utilities or energy companies.
  • Successfully meeting or exceeding Business Development targets in the range of $1.5M – $5M USD.
  • Additional working years in a reliability compliance field for an electric utility, Regional Entities, ISO, PUC, or similarly structured regulatory body.
  • Specific experience related to Bulk Electric System (BES) and power systems, electrical reliability, NERC/FERC enforcement or auditing, operations and planning (O&P).
