Location: Atlanta, GA
Employment Type: 3-month contract to start with possible opportunity to extend to 12-month contract

Compensation: $35-$38/hour
Schedule: M-F, Typical business hours

We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop clear, standardized work instructions for preventative maintenance activities on an Automated People Mover (APM) system. This role supports safe, reliable operations by ensuring maintenance procedures are accurate, easy to follow, and aligned with engineering standards and field practices.

- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance work instructions for APM vehicles, guideway, power, and control systems
- Translate OEM manuals and engineering data into clear, step-by-step procedures for technicians
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and OEM teams to validate procedures
- Include safety requirements (LOTO, electrical safety, fall protection), tools, materials, and inspection criteria in all documents
- Incorporate photos, diagrams, and schematics to improve usability
- Update documentation based on system changes, field feedback, and reliability improvements
- Ensure compliance with company standards, OEM guidance, and applicable safety regulations
- Maintain document control within CMMS or document management systems
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience writing technical or maintenance documentation in transit, rail, aviation, or industrial environments
- Experience with APM, rail, or automated transit systems
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, SAP)
- Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA) and rail/transit systems
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals
- Excellent writing, organization, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation tools
- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen
