Job Description
As a Sr Estimator focused primarily on Building Automation Systems, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, and Life Safety Systems (Fire Alarm) at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in our Pre‑bid process. In this position you manage the estimation process through collaboration with stakeholders to understand deliverables, develop competitive project bids, and ensure the bid team has the necessary inputs to produce high‑quality, aligned work that meets organizational objectives and standards.
Responsibilities- Have estimating capability in Building Automation Systems, HVAC, and Life Safety Systems (Fire Alarm).
- Perform estimation tasks: input study, generation of RFIs, equipment take‑off, preparation of IO summary, front end, field device and material selection, BOM creation, and costing.
- Develop proposals by studying specifications and determining inclusion/exclusion lists, technical qualifications, assumptions, and deviations.
- Prepare technical submittals including system architecture, floor risers, schematics, and specification compliance.
- Learn and use P&E estimating tools such as CPQ, SWAT, and Plan Swift.
- Prepare point count and cost/price per square foot with subcontractor scope, matching SWAT scope, for estimate reviews.
- Provide commercial exposure: vendor management and taxations.
- Track regional technical preferences on estimations, stay aware of product ranges, and apply knowledge of Honeywell products to develop customer solutions.
- Perform quality checks for the jobs.
- Contribute to establishing and standardizing new processes for cost optimization and cycle time reduction.
- Sound knowledge of business processes and systems.
- Five or more years of work experience in the relevant field.
- Extensive knowledge of Building Automation Controls design and code compliance for HVAC and Life Safety Systems.
- Ability to manage estimates and/or projects to standards and budgets.
- MS Office (Excel & Word) competency.
- Working hours’ flexibility to meet deadlines.
- Pre‑sales process knowledge.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders across geographic regions and time zones.
- Balance speed & accuracy to meet timelines.
- Exposure to Building Management System (BMS) or willingness to learn.
- Good communication, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize jobs per timelines.
- Capable of working under pressure and managing multiple estimates to deliver on time.
