Job DescriptionPrimary duties and responsibilities include researching, designing, and developing devices and components for process controls.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with the selection of Pressure, Temperature, Level and Flow Meters and other instruments used in Process Control.
- Specify both discrete, analog, and networked control solutions.
- Extensive knowledge and experience specifying of above devices passed on NEC hazardous area classification and known process temperatures. i.e. High temperature components (above 400
C). - Prepare specifications, design‑bid documentation. Review supplier designs against licensor requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements.
- Assist with the design and modification of new and existing process control and instrumentation systems.
- Assist in the development of instrumentation standards to ensure selection compliance across multiple facilities.
- Make recommendations for additional equipment as necessary.
- Participate in the review of Management of Changes, PHA Action Requests, Construction Information Requests, and Change Order Requests.
- Assist with local, state, and federal permitting applications.
- Assist I&c construction activities – identify deficiencies with respect to national standards and project specifications and add to punchlist. Inspect punch list rectification activities
- Witness I&c testing
- Assist with loop checking, documentation checking, plant commissioning and start‑up.
- Liaise with EPC and equipment suppliers.
- Potential to travel to other Nexus locations as required (~10%)
- AS or BS in Electrical Engineer, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Ideally completed process and plant engineering training in a previous role:
- In‑depth knowledge/experience of National Electric Code with emphasis on Article 500
- Demonstrate knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511 & SIL levels)
- Demonstrate having worked with Management of Change system
- Hands‑on troubleshooting
- 5 plus years’ PLC programming and configuration experience, in a process environment, using automation products from Rockwell Software, Siemens, Codesys based equipment.
- Controls system design to the component level
- 5 plus years’ experience performing setup, testing and commissioning Instrumentation in a construction and process environment.
- 5 plus years' experience in configuring and testing communications using gateway devices that allow data exchange with multiple industrial protocols including Modbus, Profinet / Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative
- Ability to manage multiple projects on different timelines
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven, collaborative environment
- Have the skills needed to operate and maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Demonstrate a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes
