Role description
Arcadis seeks a Senior Traffic Project Manager to join our transportation team in Atlanta, GA. As a client‑facing project manager in traffic engineering, your role will involve a range of responsibilities focused on improving safety and operations. You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior program managers, project managers, and engineers to lead the delivery of programs and projects across the Southeast.

Roleaccountabilities
- Serve as Client‑Facing Project Manager: act as the main point of contact for clients, overseeing traffic engineering projects and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Scope, schedule, and budget management: develop and manage project scope, schedules, and budgets; define objectives, deliverables, and timelines; monitor progress and resource allocation to ensure successful completion.
- Status updates and reporting: provide regular written and verbal status updates to clients and senior management, reporting on milestones, risks, and issues, and discussing strategies to mitigate challenges.
- Technical presentations: present technical results and recommendations to clients, share findings from traffic studies, propose safety and operations improvements, or present design concepts for intersections or ITS.
- Coordination with subject matter experts: coordinate with surveyors, roadway designers, environmental specialists and others to integrate their expertise into project plans.
- Project pursuit strategies: work with client managers and operational leaders to develop strategies for pursuing new projects; identify opportunities, analyze market trends, and propose innovative solutions.
- Traffic studies and modeling: conduct and document traffic studies following nationally accepted modeling practices, using analytical tools to evaluate patterns, assess safety and recommend improvements.
- Technical approaches and reviews: assist engineers in developing technical approaches and review prepared technical results, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices.
- Traffic engineering plan preparation: lead the team in preparing traffic engineering plans, including signal designs, signage and marking designs, conceptual intersection designs, or ITS designs.
- Client interaction and analysis results: coordinate and interface with clients to discuss technical aspects; present analysis results and address concerns, ensuring satisfaction with outcomes.
- Training and guidance: provide training and guidance to junior engineers, interns, and new project managers, mentoring and offering technical support.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Ability to obtain Georgia PE within one year of hire.
- Understanding of traffic analysis tools including VISSIM, Sidra, Synchro/Sim Traffic, and HCS.
- Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures.
- Experience/familiarity with Microstation and/or Bentley Open Roads.
- Must possess a U.S. Driver’s License.
- Experience in operational and/or safety analysis.
- Experience in GDOT design standards, ITS design, traffic operations studies, intersection conceptual drafting, or safety studies.
- Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering.
- Experience managing large tasks and/or projects.
