We're hiring for the role of Polymer Chemist/Engineer to support our cutting‑edge research and product development efforts. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the construction industry. At QUIKRETE® we’re leaders in bagged concretes, mortars, and grouts—and we’re making big moves in the CASE market with waterproof membranes, moisture barriers, sealants, and specialty coatings. This role will primarily support our QUIKRETE® and Custom® Building Products product lines.
WhatYou’ll Do
As a pivotal member of our Research and Development team, you will take a hands‑on approach to evaluating novel materials and advancing product formulations, driving our mission to accelerate innovation and deliver smarter solutions.
- Plan, execute, analyze, and report experimental lab work, leading to new products based on reactive chemistries, including epoxies.
- Contribute to multifunctional teams (including manufacturing, technical service, QA/QC, product management) to ensure successful execution of R&D projects from concept to commercialization, including scale‑up.
- Evaluate prototypes with Technical Services and Customers to validate expected market success of concepts.
- Assess competitive products and alternative epoxy technologies.

Education & Experience- B.S. degree in Chemistry, Polymer and/or Material Science is required.
- 3–5+ years of industrial formulation of polymer‑based coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomeric products is a must.
- Experience in reactive chemistries, such as epoxies, urethanes, phenolics, polyaspartics and/or sil(ox) anes is desired.
- Demonstrated track record of developing commercially successful products.
- Experience and basic understanding of manufacturing scale‑up processes and construction industry practices is desired.
- A talent for solving problems; use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions.
- Able to work with a diverse group of people in multifunctional teams.
- Self‑starting with a drive to overachieve.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, grasping, and fine motor manipulation.
- Capacity for intermittent standing, walking, turning, sitting, squatting, stooping, and bending.
- Ability to safely carry up to 25 lbs., lift/lower up to 50 lbs., and push/pull up to 100 lbs. (with material handling equipment assistance).
- Potential (non‑local) travel up to 50%.
