QA/QC Engineer - Data Center Construction – Atlanta, GA
We are looking for an experienced Data Center QA/QC Engineer to support critical facility data center construction projects. The QA/QC Engineer focuses on coordination between engineering and construction teams to drive the Cx process, and is responsible for the overall quality of data center construction projects, including installation, commissioning and operation of key infrastructure systems in accordance with company policies and procedures.
The successful candidate has knowledge of multi‑facility, standards‑based operations and maintenance programs, and a basic knowledge of commissioning and construction processes. They will support the development and implementation of mission‑critical O&M initiatives based on the company’s best practices.
- Deliver quality and consistent services and support as established by the company while satisfying site requirements and ensuring proper performance reporting of key metrics.
- Communicate with contractors and vendors to obtain documentation, prepare and run commissioning meetings, schedule technicians, and coordinate startup and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment in a data center environment.
- Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to ensure company procedures (SOPs and MOPs) and standards are followed, assisting the Facilities Manager, technicians, and contracted vendors.
- Conduct site acceptance, commissioning, and validation of the facility’s systems to ensure the site meets industry standards and verifies the integrity and performance of the customer’s mission‑critical infrastructure.
- Perform L1, L2, and L3 QA inspections on all equipment.
- Develop and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs) for all work on critical data center facility equipment.
- Oversee verification and auditing of scripts.
- Create and maintain L1/L2/L3 QA checklists, including using software such as CxAlloy, to confirm the completion of all subcontractor and GC inspections.
- Maintain and manage a QA issues log.
- Conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Have experience with routine and emergency service on state‑of‑the‑art critical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression, building monitoring systems, medium‑voltage switch gear, diesel generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Work with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Ensure a constant state of readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime.
- Design critical environment programs for internal and external clients.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to provide a focused approach to the Cx process.
- Assess, recommend, and implement industry best practices in new and existing critical environment programs.
- Develop process documentation and training materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience (military background is a huge plus).
- NETA certification is a plus.
- Journeyman license is a plus.
- Experience with L1, L2, and L3 Cx testing in a data center environment is a huge plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in data center facility operations, commissioning, or military.
- 2–5 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control, commissioning, MEP coordination, or other relevant experience.
- Previous experience working with a GC or third‑party CxA company is a huge plus.
- Solid understanding of critical power systems/electrical power equipment or mechanical systems/HVAC equipment in a data center environment.
- Must have experience analyzing processes, creating documentation, developing operational procedures, and communicating effectively with business and operations managers.
- Previous experience in the military (veteran status is a plus).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with BIM 360 / ACC, CxAlloy, end‑user ACMS as necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills.
- Superior analytical, planning, and problem‑resolution skills.
- Highly organized with proven project management abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Self‑motivated and able to work with a team in a high‑paced/high‑pressure environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Open to travel, Monday‑Friday with weekends home and limited travel near projects.
