Fire Sprinkler Designer / Project Manager

Location:

On-site | South Carolina (Relocation Assistance Available)

Position Overview:

A growing mechanical and fire protection contractor is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer / Project Manager to support the design, coordination, and execution of commercial and industrial fire protection projects. This role combines technical design responsibilities with project management oversight, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Sprinkler Design
  • Design fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial facilities using AutoCAD, Auto Sprink, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and system layouts in accordance with NFPA standards and local code requirements.
  • Prepare construction drawings, shop drawings, submittal packages, fabrication documents, and material lists.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams throughout the design process.
  • Review project specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Project Management
  • Manage fire protection projects from initial design through installation and project closeout.
  • Coordinate project schedules, manpower, materials procurement, and subcontractor activities.
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, change orders, and overall project profitability.
  • Maintain communication with clients, field personnel, vendors, and stakeholders regarding project status.
  • Conduct site visits and support installation teams to resolve technical and project-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and company procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design, project management, or a related fire protection role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Auto Sprink, Hydra

    CAD, Revit MEP, or similar fire protection design software.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, NFPA 14, and NFPA 25.
  • Experience performing hydraulic calculations and preparing fire protection system documentation.
  • Knowledge of BIM coordination and construction project workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level II or higher preferred).
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial fire protection projects.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes and field installation practices.
