Electric Transmission Planning Engineer / Senior Engineer - 2479m
Performs Transmission Planning and Power System Studies, including powerflow, steady state, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability and contingency analyses. Provides technical expertise and analytical support for the transmission planning activities of the Corporation and evaluating electrical alternatives to support transmission system reliability. Supports Corporate regulatory compliance for transmission planning and related functions.

- Perform power system modeling and analysis in assigned areas using industry standard and custom software
- Develop and coordinate transmission solutions that promote system reliability and resiliency
- Develop technical reports, capital project scopes and justifications, and other procedural documentation
- Participate in industry committees and transmission planning collaboratives with other electric entities as assigned
- Coordinate with capital project development and budgeting processes
- Timely completion of required deliverables with a high level of quality
Individuals in this role will experience comprehensive exposure to and gain a broad understanding of electric power system analysis, transmission system modeling, generation impacts, inter-regional power flows, and industry coordination practices.
Qualifications- BSEE, Power Systems, required, Licensed PE and an advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering, preferred
- 4-6+ years of electric utility power systems analysis or planning focused on transmission system planning
- Proven experience with power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, EMT, PSCAD or similar
- Effective communicator who develops relationships, works cross‑functionally and communicates persuasively
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, power flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, etc.
