Overview
The successful candidate will work in a team environment alongside other like-minded people whose purpose is to provide innovative solutions to the building automation needs. This Senior Applications Engineer will manage and lead the design process with our Existing Building and New Construction business leaders to strengthen and grow our building automation offering in the marketplace. The efforts of this role should result in value-driven designs that address the challenges identified, yielding satisfied customers, repeat business, and continued growth.
Duties& Essential Job Functions
- Control Equipment selection and capacity calculations
- Proper equipment sizing (e.g. – Valve, damper, panel, controller counts, memory capacity, etc.)
- Timely review of all control sequences and components to identify potential scope gaps, sequence gaps, and proactively identifying cost savings measures. Communicate these items with the Engineer of Record
- Preparation of control systems submittals, as-built wiring diagrams, and operating and maintenance manuals in strict accordance with the project schedule
- Utilization of Project Support Center personnel for Revit work; copying, assembling, and delivery of completed submittal or O&M packages; and material logistics
- Adherence to the building design specifications, plans, VE modifications, and the sales estimate in accordance with McKenney's ACS design and implementation standards
- Participation in ongoing review and enhancement of the McKenney's ACS design and implementation standards, including the development of standard control sequences that define parameters for software development
- Ability to select the controls platform best suited to meet functional goals while maintaining alignment with project budget
- Mentoring and development of Junior Applications and Applications Engineers on the team
- 6 years of experience in engineering or design capacity on communicating or networked electronic systems
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences, or equivalent technical training in a related field, with 4 years of experience with commercial facility digital control and facility management systems
- Professional Engineer’s License
- 10 years of experience in HVAC Controls, Building Automation, or Energy Monitoring
- Advanced competency in Autodesk Revit
- Demonstrated competency in Windows, Microsoft Office, function block programming environments, Web-enabled applications, and database software
- Self-starter with ability to work well as part of a team and independently
- Time management to maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
- Attention to detail while completing multiple tasks
- Commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities and manage priorities with minimal guidance
- Professional work ethic and adherence to company values
- Professional presentation that inspires confidence
- PC proficiency in Windows environments, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software
- Moderate exposure to elements such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises
- Exposure to construction, mechanical, and electrical hazards with fundamental safety precautions
- Moderate physical effort; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform extensive standing and walking
- Local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and navigate work areas under construction
