Civil CAD Designer – Road & Highway – Atlanta, Georgia
OpportunityParsons is now hiring a Designer/Drafter for our rapidly expanding transportation project portfolio to work on design of road and highway projects in our Atlanta – Sandy Springs, Georgia office. This position can be hired at a more experienced level as well.
This role includes basic to moderately difficult design/drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. Designers understand the materials and methods normally used within the assigned discipline. This is a full‑time role with excellent benefits. Also, this is an office‑based role at our Sandy Springs, GA office.
Responsibilities- Utilizes Micro Station to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, cut sheets, details, etc., according to established standards and procedures.
- Ensures drawings comply with GDOT EDG and PPG and other drafting standards.
- Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
- Understands how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and construction drawings for road, highway and bridge projects.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Develops roadway and highway design plans, including horizontal/vertical alignments, drainage and pavement marking.
- Assists in preparing design submittals to clients like GDOT.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred
- 2 years or more of relevant experience with civil and road/highway design projects
- PC literacy, working knowledge of Micro Station. Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments. Working knowledge of Bentley Project Wise is preferred.
- Knowledge of Georgia DOT Plan Presentation Guidelines and Electronic Data Guidelines is preferred.
