Our Atlanta, Georgia office is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer to add technical, project management, and business development expertise to our growing dam and water control practice.
The ideal candidate will provide high‑level technical support to our current industry experts and clients, bring new business to GEI, and mentor and guide our team.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑level technical support to clients and industry experts.
- Develop, write, and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Lead project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and client relationship management.
- Mentor and guide team members on technical and business development matters.
- Maintain and expand relationships with local and regional agencies and clients in the southeastern United States.
- Travel periodically as required.
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Water Resources, Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineering license (preferably in Georgia or a surrounding state).
- 20+ years progressive experience in engineering with at least 5+ years in project management and client relationship management.
- Advanced technical skills in municipal and state contracts, floodplain regulations, FEMA levee accreditation, FERC hydropower inspections, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, or stormwater management.
- Demonstrated experience preparing high‑quality proposal documents.
- Experience managing projects and/or a team.
- Well‑established relationships with local and regional agencies in the southeastern U.S.
- Collaborative and successful in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams; GIS, CAD, MS Project and other technical analysis tools an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Adaptive, creative, and able to bring inventive solutions to projects and problems.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and commitment to producing quality work.
- Familiarity with Georgia and southeastern U.S. state regulations, federal, and local permitting requirements.
- Experience with USEPA SWMM, HEC‑RAS (1D and 2D), and HEC‑HMS modeling software.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for analyzing/converting surfaces to support hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and development of state and federal permit documents (USACE 408, USACE 404).
