A growing engineering team is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Lead Roadway Engineer to oversee and manage transportation design projects for clients such as state departments of transportation, municipalities, counties, and tolling agencies.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Texas roadway design engineering, with a proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structural, and survey professionals. Extensive knowledge of TxDOT Specifications and the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual is highly desirable. You'll be leading a team of professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, working on projects delivered through various methods such as traditional bid-build and design-build.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of engineering documents that align with client objectives while staying within budget and on schedule.
- Oversee the design of transportation elements including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, maintenance of traffic plans, and construction sequencing.
- Prepare key engineering documentation such as Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Reports, and Variation/Exception Reports.
- Coordinate directly with clients and internal team members, draft meeting summaries, and assist with progress reports and invoicing.
- Conduct quality control reviews and manage construction quantity estimates.
- Take responsibility for reviewing and sealing engineering work, as well as supervising junior engineers.
- Represent the team in professional, community, and industry activities.
- Play an active role in pursuing new opportunities, developing proposals, and collaborating with discipline leads during pursuits.
- Contribute to a collaborative and employee-focused work culture.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (from an ABET/EAC accredited institution).
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in roadway design and engineering project management.
- Strong background in TxDOT-related transportation projects preferred.
- Proficiency with Micro Station, GEOPAK, and/or Open Roads.
- Skilled in preparing contracts, scopes, and fee estimates per TxDOT standards.
- Familiarity with Project Wise is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
