What You Will Do
GFT is seeking an OE Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group. The role is available in multiple U.S. locations and may be performed remotely or as a hybrid setup depending on the candidate’s location.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee transmission line project designs as the Owner’s Engineer for major utility clients.
- Participate in Project Team meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Review client submittals to ensure constructability and compliance with client standards.
- Analyze transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or comparable structural design software.
- Examine design criteria documents and construction specifications.
- Review comprehensive construction packages, including structure loading drawings, structure details, material lists, staking tables, plans and profiles, and stringing charts.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure ordered materials meet construction timelines.
- Verify specifications in accordance with NESC, IEEE, NEC, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate feasibility studies, routing studies, and EMF calculations to support project planning.
- Oversee project implementation, ensuring verification of foundations, structures, and equipment installation.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers and technicians, fostering professional growth within the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
- In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and related codes and standards.
- High proficiency in PLS-CADD.
- Knowledge and understanding of FAD Tools.
- Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with RISA-3D and/or STAAD for structural analysis and design.
- Functional understanding of AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, ASCE 10, and ASCE 48.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $145,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
