Description
Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer.
Remote OptionMust be located in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee or Alabama, and live more than 50 miles from the Atlanta, GA office.
TravelWilling to travel 10%–20% of the time to customer sites and in‑office as needed.
Hybrid Work Schedule- 3 days in the Atlanta, GA office.
- 2–3 days of in‑person connection for collaboration.

- Remaining days worked remotely.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure support.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) development.
- Technical and non‑technical training.
- Leadership pathways and mentorship.
- Opportunities to lead team projects.
- Lead and support design projects for substation protection and control.
- Create and refine relay oneline diagrams defining protection zones.
- Develop detailed AC and DC schematics for safe operation.
- Design control panels, wiring diagrams and physical layouts.
- Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria.
- Perform rigorous QC checks for accuracy and safety.
- Contribute from scoping through energization support.
- Provide technical guidance during installation, testing and commissioning.
- Apply National Electrical Safety Code and utility standards.
- Partner with design staff to produce complete drawing packages.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 8+ years of substation protection and control design experience.
- Experience leading and executing substation protection and control projects.
- Strong communication skills with internal teams and clients.
- Ability to meet deadlines in fast‑paced or high‑pressure environments.
- Team player who can also provide leadership.
- Initiative‑driven with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical abilities and engineering problem‑solving skills.
- High computer competency and comfort using engineering tools.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.
- Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Field testing or commissioning experience.
