Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electrical Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
General Purpose
Under immediate supervision, apply standard engineering/maintenance principles, concepts, theories, and techniques to routine assignments in support of business objectives. Provide fundamental engineering, maintenance, and expertise; perform primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. Apply originality, ingenuity, and cross‑disciplinary knowledge to solve basic technical issues. Emphasize team participation, planning, and achievement of results on assigned projects.
EssentialFunctions
- Apply engineering skills to work assignments and solve problems independently.
- Complete engineering and maintenance tasks within leadership oversight.
- Follow engineering and quality processes.
- Manage improvement projects for manufacturing line updates and installations.
- Collaborate with maintenance team to improve machine reliability.
- Document work and assumptions in detailed notes.
- Develop and implement electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Install and provide technical support for PLC‑based hardware and software.
- Install and program VFDs and other electronic machine components.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or a two‑year technical degree with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience or 10+ years of maintenance electrical experience.
- 3–5 years of professional engineering experience or 1–3 years of specialized engineering experience in a related field.
- Project management experience preferred; may be required for certain assignments.
- Evaluate processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to apply engineering/maintenance principles to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across production, engineering, maintenance, and management teams.
- Prioritize tasks, determine appropriate courses of action, and work independently with minimal day‑to‑day supervision.
- Strong business acumen with understanding of how engineering/maintenance decisions impact operational and financial results.
- Proficient in standard office software, communication tools, and engineering‑related applications.
- Document technical data for project planning, process improvement, and database management.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and use electrical test equipment.
- Machine control hardware such as PLCs, servos, drives, cameras, and robotics systems.
- Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery.
- Familiarity with automation equipment such as Fanuc, Panasonic, Indramat, Motoman.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC/Servo/Drive systems and Siemens automation platforms.
- Manufacturing experience in wood processing environments, including panel saws, edge banders, CNC, sanders, finishing lines.
