The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is seeking a Civil Engineer
- Wastewater to join our Atlanta, GA team. In this role, you'll support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal wastewater infrastructure projects, including wastewater collection systems, gravity sewers, force mains, lift stations, utility rehabilitation, and conveyance improvements. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on projects that strengthen critical infrastructure while building your technical expertise and project responsibilities.
The Civil Engineer
- Wastewater will provide engineering support for municipal wastewater infrastructure projects from planning through construction. This role includes preparing engineering designs, performing technical analyses, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting project delivery for local and regional utility clients.
- Prepare engineering designs for wastewater collection systems, force mains, gravity sewers, lift stations, and related utility infrastructure.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, utility analyses, and engineering evaluations.
- Develop design drawings, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
- Assist with sewer rehabilitation, replacement, and capacity improvement projects.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments to support project development.
- Coordinate with clients, utility owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout project execution.
- Support permitting, utility coordination, and project documentation.
- Prepare cost estimates, bid documents, and engineering opinions of probable construction cost.
- Provide construction-phase services including submittal reviews, RFIs, change order evaluations, and field observations.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and Tetra Tech quality standards.
- Support project scheduling, planning, and overall project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1-8 years of experience supporting municipal wastewater or water infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with municipal design standards, permitting requirements, and utility coordination.
- Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Experience with wastewater conveyance systems, including gravity sewers, force mains, lift stations, and collection systems.
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as SewerGEMS, Info Sewer, or Info Works ICM.
- Experience supporting municipal utility rehabilitation and capital improvement projects.
- Construction administration or field engineering experience.
- Knowledge of water distribution systems is a plus.
- Interest in growing into increased technical responsibility and project leadership.
- Prolonged periods working on a computer in an office setting.
- Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Fieldwork may include exposure to outdoor environments, uneven terrain, or construction sites.
- Work will primarily be performed in an office environment with occasional field assignments.
- Field work may involve exposure to weather, construction activities, and moderate noise levels.
