Environmental Manager

Join our team as an Environmental Manager, where you’ll lead the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of the company’s environmental compliance programs. You’ll ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and permits, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and play a pivotal role in advancing our organization’s environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically manage and oversee all aspects of environmental compliance activities across company operations.
  • Lead and develop environmental team members—hiring, coaching, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing work environment.
  • Interpret complex environmental data and translate it into actionable strategies for compliance and performance improvement.
  • Manage and oversee complex air permitting matters, including determinations, construction, and operating permit applications.
  • Compile and submit air emission inventory and Tier II reports for affected company locations.
  • Develop and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and provide training to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee company Risk Management Program (RMP) and facility waste management practices to ensure compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and related regulations.
  • Manage spill response, assessment, and cleanup activities as needed.
  • Lead environmental audits, identify potential regulatory exposures, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Manage wetland and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issues associated with company operations.
  • Maintain environmental reserves and asset retirement obligations as necessary.
  • Represent the company in high-level interactions with state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Support environmental insurance renewals and claims.
  • Develop environmental programs, guidelines, and training materials to ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and other relevant regulations.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and lead communication with environmental agencies.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance and program management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA.
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and formulate defensible positions.
  • Proven success interacting with regulatory authorities and presenting technical content to varied audiences.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and a focus on practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments in a dynamic environment.
