Sr. Structural Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Structural Project Engineer you will be responsible for the successful delivery of large building projects, including managing and mentoring the engineering team in a specific discipline, developing concepts and budgets, and producing the design.

• Look for ways to improve engineering design and design processes within a specific discipline.
• Guide the development of Revit tools to improve productivity.

• Devote 10% of time to Project Management and Technical Improvement initiatives.
• Project Management includes manpower estimates, communications, budget monitoring, organizing deliverables, and setting project standards.
• Develop typical details, specifications, and drawing standards, including Revit standards in coordination with the BIM team.
• Stay abreast of industry and technology changes and recommend changes in approach and services as appropriate.
• Improve analytic processes, documentation, and critical solutions.
• Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.

• Devote 90% of time to engineering of large or complex projects.
• Be responsible for engineering of large projects from concept and schematic design through construction documents to construction and commissioning.
• Provide design input and review other engineers' projects.
• Attend client meetings and promote positive client contact.
• Participate as a team member, contribute ideas and solutions, and lead on issues where appropriate.
• Perform site visit surveys to determine engineering strategies for renovation and document existing systems.
• Visit project sites during construction for reviews of quality, progress, and compliance with specifications and standards.
• Conduct project reviews at all design stages.
• Be responsible for quality and timely delivery of projects to budget.
• Mentor engineering staff on projects.

• Provide support to Business Development as needed, including write-up of key project aspects, presentation of work at industry events, and preparation of fee estimates and assumptions for a discipline on potential projects.

• Efficiency and profitability of the Engineering Discipline in the office or region and contributions to firm-wide success.
• Quality of design solutions, measured by integration, unique solutions, achieving high sustainability goals, and peer recognition of excellence.
• Quality of work produced, measured by completeness of design, absence of change orders, and client satisfaction.
• Cohesiveness of the discipline team, evidenced by ease and amount of work share, consistency of quality and delivery tools and standards, and team communication.

• Contributions to bringing in new work.

• Ability to engineer and deliver projects over $100M.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple practices across HOK's organization.
• Communicate clearly both verbally and in written form, with an understanding of industry communication protocols.

• Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Mechanical:
  Natural ventilation design is a plus.
• Structural:
  Proficiency with analysis programs such as SAP, ETABS, SAFE, GSA, or similar.
• Engineering of steel and concrete superstructures, including long span or high rise.

• Bachelor of Science in engineering;
  Master's degree preferred.
• Licensed PE if MEP Engineer.
• Licensed SE if Structural Engineer in states with SE license, PE or CE/PE in other states.
• NCEES record allowing registration in any state.
• LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
• Expert in all aspects of the discipline with a track record of recent successful major projects over $100M, and one major project over $250M.
• 10 years of project engineering experience from concept to opening, with completed high-profile projects.
• Experience in leading or working in integrated teams.
• Experience in designing and delivering LEED Gold or Platinum projects.
• Experience with architecturally significant buildings.
• Experience with potential project types in commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, aviation, and healthcare sectors.
