Position Details

Key Responsibilities- Oversee engineering aspects of water asset management projects, including communication, reporting, and office tasks.
- Provide supervisory, quality control, and CMMS management duties as required.
- Prepare design calculations, engineering drawings, and sketches.
- Inspect construction projects, advise on design problems, and review as-built plans for accuracy.
- Review land disturbance, drainage, and traffic plans for compliance with laws and codes.
- Maintain water and wastewater maps and manage fee collections from work orders for monument construction.
- Provide engineering input for assessment of existing water and sewer infrastructure.
- Maintain technical information and records related to projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least two years of work experience in civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license (required by position assignment).
- Current proof of eligibility to sit for the Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) pre‑licensure certification examination (must be provided within twelve months of employment).
Qualifying veterans will be given preference in the form of a guaranteed invitation to interview for positions that meet the minimum qualifications. Veterans’ preference applies only to the initial appointment.
ExaminationThe examination will consist of a review of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Applicants must document that they possess the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience as listed to be rated as eligible. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required at the time of employment for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.
Purposeof Classification
This position performs engineering tasks under close supervision, including water resources, construction projects, inspection, land disturbance and drainage plan review, and preparation of design calculations and drawings. Staff Engineers work under close supervision and follow established design criteria;
Staff Engineers, Senior work with limited supervision and develop engineering designs and supervise staff as required.
- Performs engineering tasks under close supervision, following established standards and design criteria.
- Provides customer service and technical information on projects.
- Maintains project files and prepares correspondence related to projects.
- Inspects construction projects and provides guidance to resolve design problems.
- Prepares design calculations, drawings, and sketches.
- Reviews land disturbance, drainage, and traffic plans for compliance with laws and codes.
- Reviews as-built plans and final and exemption plats to ensure design accuracy.
- Updates and maintains water and wastewater maps.
- Manages fee collections from work orders for monument construction.
- Reviews land disturbance reports and water and wastewater plans for compliance with environmental regulations.
- Provides engineering input into the assessment process for existing water and sewer infrastructure.
- Maintains a variety of technical information and records.
- Performs other related duties as required.
