We are searching for an experienced Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) – Inspector 2 to join our team in Metro Atlanta. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with GDOT and other transportation agencies involved in winning contracts for CEI services in the general Metro Area. This is a great opportunity to produce and manage roadway construction projects and assist in growing the CEI team in our Atlanta, GA office.
Thesuccessful candidate will:
- Perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
- Conduct routine and standardized inspections.
- Inspect asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans, and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
- Perform the more complex variety of calculations and computations.
- Perform contract documentation duties, which includes field measurements of pay items as well as another Department required documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or an associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and six months of related experience, or:
- Must have three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering in the construction of highways, bridges and related fields.
- Three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience. (Project leader or lead‑worker experience will substitute for managerial/supervisory experience.)
- Extensive knowledge in GDOT Roadway and Bridge construction, engineering policies and procedures.
- Ability to pass GDOT certifications within 6 months of hire and pass group 1 and 2 GDOT ESDT within the first year.
- Ideally, you’ll also have construction engineering and management experience.

The base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 to $72,800.00; though it will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
